PopJunkies Celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness Month

PopJunkies’ fashion choice of the month is…..Anything Pink!!!

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, my PopJunkies sisters and I are supporting #TEAMPINK. 1 out of 8 women will stand the chance of being affected by Breast Cancer in her lifetime. I am a personal witness to this terrible disease. I watched my aunt, Mable Lee Horsey, battle breast cancer for four years until she was called home on January 20th, 2013. It was a long ugly battle but she never let it slow her down. She was strong until her very last moments on this earth. Even in her passing, she’s still my hero because she put up a good fight for as long as her body would allow.

I classify a hero as some one who survives adversity on a daily basis. Ms. Lillian R. Hawkins, the mother of a close friend, is also a true hero. She is now celebrating her 10th anniversary as a breast cancer survivor. The best defense against breast cancer is early detection and monthly mammograms. Actress Angelina Jolie, recently underwent a double mastectomy to reduce her chances of cancer developing in either of her breasts. Women can be affected by this cancer at any age, which why we decided to go “Pink” at PopJunkies. It’s only right that we support the brave women and their families that have been affected. Supporting breast cancer awareness and healthy women will never go out of style.
