Who is Tieast?
Aside from being the crazier half of PopJunkies, definitely a lover of the arts and a very dedicated young woman. Prior to graduating from college, I interned at WPGC 95.5 as a Promotions Intern and at WIAD 94.7 Fresh FM as a Programming Intern for the Tommy Morning Show. It wasn’t until my internship with the Tommy Show that I realized I wanted to pursue a career in broadcast journalism. Shortly after completing my internship with The Tommy Show, I was hired as their Associate Producer. While in this position, I gained more experience in the field by attending many A-List events around the DC area and interviewing celebrity guests such as Kevin McHale (Artie from Glee) and Jordan Knight from New Kids on the Block.
Shortly after graduating from University of Maryland, Baltimore County, I trained and was certified to be a Board Operator for WPGC. In the short time, I have worked on many shows and done several live broadcasts which includes WPGC’s yearly Birthday Bash, DJ Flexx at this year’s BET Awards, and club events. I also explored the news format by becoming the Associate Journalist for our all news station, WNEW. Also, I recently finished my internship as an Editorial Intern at Baltimore Magazine and at the Rock the Vote in DC. I am currently interning at Mechanical Dummy as a Blogger. So with everything I do, I am pretty busy lol.
What does PopJunkies mean to me?
PopJunkies is different from what is already out there. It’s a site where we put our focus back on the music, the artists, and their craft. I feel like we have lost sight of that over the past few years. But most importantly, it’s a place where I can voice my opinions on things that matter most to me.
